Those Funny Bug Commercials Make Us Remember Don’t They?

Have you seen those new commercials for the Orkin pest control supplies company? They feature a huge termite knocking on the door of a well manicured suburban home. The owner opens the door and the bug asks to use the telephone or tries other such ways to get in to the home in order to do damage. Suddenly the Orkin people are there and the home is safe. The guy proceeds to check over the entire house and you do not see a single speck of dust or dirt even under pipes, that is absolutely amazing and one would think that a home that clean could not have bugs and just would not need that kind of protection. The Orkin man then declares the home safe and plants a sign which in my opinion would be embarrassing to have on your front lawn. The home is safe and the bugs just drive by.

I find these commercials intriguing especially since the idea of a giant bug would usually freak you out yet when the bug starts asking less than bright questions making the whole scenario comical. Surely the concept is meant to frighten home owners in to getting immediate quotes foe pest control products, but instead it makes us laugh and so we are not afraid at all. I’m just not sure that it is what they set out to do when this campaign was thought out.

Still they have achieved success in the fact that we remember those commercials and therefore the product or service being advertised. All in all not a bad idea and I wish them great success in this economy. Hey no one wants to live in a bug infested home of any kind so they will always have a market of customers.
