The Clear Card - Air travel for the 21st Century

How many times have you waited in line at the airport waiting to check in for what seems like hours? This is a common problem and it occurs cross country. We all know that airport security has increased dramatically and that it takes us far longer to clear that security now than it did prior to 9/11. The New York Daily News reports that one company has decided to make it easier and faster to get to your destination. The Clear Card by Verified Identity Pass is a very new concept, the card costs $199 and the purchaser will be put through a vigorous background check – the benefit? All checks are done prior to your ever stepping foot in the airport, there are biometrics contained in the Clear Card that make it impossible for someone else to use in your place, and the bearer can really get through quickly so if you are running late you may still have a chance to make your flight. The technology is not yet available in every US airport, however there are new machines being set up each week it will not be long before it is accepted throughout the US and beyond.

The Clear Card will not eliminate the cargo check, but cargo handling will change. Instead of standing on sometimes never ending lines, you will instead go to a special line and insert their card in to the machine. Both fingerprints and retina scans are incorporated in to the procedure once checked you are free to go on with your trip while others are still waiting on those near endless lines.

The airport cargo security solutions have truly streamlined the cargo check in line, unfortunately there is not much else that can be done to eliminate this portion of the process. It would truly be unsafe if people could just walk in because they have a special card, imagine the horror that could lead to. No, let’s leave that function alone for now.
