Talismans and Their Meaning Part 1
Posted January 22, 2009 – 8:40 pm in: Information Technology, RetailA talisman is a symbol or an object marked with magic signs and believed to give the wearer protection or supernatural powers. Human history is riddled with legends of talismans or tribal pendants that do anything from healing, protection, wealth and success.
Many talisman symbols come from something called “sacred geometry”. According to Wikipedia, Sacred geometry may be understood as a worldview of pattern recognition, a complex system of religious symbols and structures involving space, time and form. According to this view, the basic patterns of existence are perceived as sacred. By connecting with these, a believer contemplates the Mysterium Magnum, and the Great Design. By studying the nature of these patterns, forms and relationships and their connections, insight may be gained into the mysteries, the laws and lore of the Universe.
You can see this in the ancient Egyptian Scarab beetle talisman, the Ankh, Buckle or Knot of Isis or the Eye of Horus. The cross is also termed a talisman of Christianity it is a symbol of faith as well as the symbol of the fish. Just as the Star of David is a talisman of Jewish faith. The Tree of Life, of course, is the most familiar of sacred geometry symbols.
Tribal jewelry or talismans are usually made of silver, pewter or gold with gem stones or crystals in them. In the past, most tribal jewelry or talismans were leather pendants, which you can still get today. Even though they were made of leather, their symbolism and meaning is still the same today.
A fight symbol can mean simply “protection from all harm” or “strength and stamina”. Many talismans or fight necklaces that the tribesmen wore were earned for deeds in battle or were given as protection during battle or for protection on a long journey.
Next month I will have some more talismans and their meanings for your enjoyment.

Aboriginal Art Symbols
The culture and tradition of the Australian aboriginals has developed over a millennia. The aboriginal art symbols are a continuation of the artistic tradition and the creative abilities of the Australian aboriginals and can be found on many Australia gifts. The symbols that are being used in contemporary Australian aboriginal paintings are not different from the rock engravings and cave paintings created by the aborigines during the last several centuries. These aboriginal art symbols had been used traditionally as attractive sand paintings during ceremonies. The corroborees had used these symbols as body paint decorations for a long time.
