New York Chef Survives Kitchen Blaze
Posted April 30, 2009 – 11:32 pm in: EducationLast week here in New York chef Patrick started off his day like all others. He got dressed, traveled to work, and began his day as head chef of a wonderful bistro in the city. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until at 7 pm he began to saute some chicken and his coat sleeve caught fire. The entire kitchen began to panic, but chef Patrick did not. He calmly walked over to the big sink and doused himself with water until he was out.
The kitchen stood stunned, except for some singed hairs chef Patrick did not have a burn on him. How could this be? It seems that years earlier chef Patrick had a similar accident and burned himself pretty badly. Vowing that he would not have another accident like this he searched for a solution. After much trial and error, and a great deal of research chef Patrick found Flame Resistant Clothing that was actually light enough to wear under his chef’s smock and not overheat him in the kitchen. Chef Patrick wore this clothing every day and for this reason went unharmed in this accident.
As of today chef Patrick’s entire kitchen staff has converted to wearing the same type of clothing every day, They decided that if this could happen to someone as good as chef Patrick not once but twice then it could easily happen to any of them and they just did not want to take that kind of chance.
As a gift for their fearless leader the staff purchased a Carhartt Coats jacket so that he would be fireproof in even the coldest of weather. It seems that the chef is an avid camper so the coat makes perfect sense.
