Minnesota Has Its First Confirmed Case of Swine Flu
Posted April 30, 2009 – 11:57 pm in: EducationSo far more than 100 cases of swine flu have been confirmed across a dozen states. Today Minnesota confirmed its first official case of swine flu and more tests are being conducted with many more cases suspected. The state is investigating where and with whom the flu entered the state since this helps them to identify strains and track its progression. Tracking the flu allows officials to see if this flu will reach the magnitude seen in Mexico earlier this month, referring to the strain that killed so many in the Spanish country.
The Center For Disease Control states that the best way to protect yourself is cleanliness and manners. In other words wash your hands, cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze, and don’t share food or drinks with anyone. Mom’s should use disinfectants on the phones, doorknobs, faucets, and all community areas on a regular basis.
Watch for signs of the flu and contact your doctor if you have legitimate flu symptoms and it has been less than 48 hours since they began. If you wait longer than that it is likely that you will have to tough it out since drugs like Tami flu are useless after 48 hrs. and are very limited. Keep an eye on your children and find out if any kids in their classes have been out with the flu this will help you prepare and be less likely to be caught off guard if one of your kids gets sick.
If you are renting a minnesota home for rent that has been vacant for more than a couple of days you should always give it a really thourough cleaning before allowing the family belongings to enter. Of course most good property management companies will have already done this to avoid bugs, diseases and germs of all kinds, and for the comfort of the renter.
Remember most importantly - Do not panic - no one in the US has even been hospitalized let alone died from the US version of the swine flu. Just be aware and take precautions.
