How to choose a cleaning service

Posted April 14, 2009 – 4:27 pm in: Services

Have you ever used a cleaning service in your home? I asked some of my friends and family this question because as a mom I wondered if it was ok to use a maid once in a while. It turns out that most of the people I asked actually had used a maid service and most were recent and or ongoing. Who knew? Not me. I have been driving myself crazy wondering if it was ok to do this. Well moms rejoice. It actually is ok to get some help when you are overwhelmed, when you need a helping hand and no one will pitch in, or when you just want to because everyone deserves some time off once in a while.

Here in Virginia home cleaning is advertised in the local penny savers magazines and on flyers. It is hard to choose a maid va is just inundated with choices. To find the right service you should ask for verifiable references, if these cannot be provided then find a company that is willing to provide these. Most likely you will be told that due to confidentiality this cannot be done, but the truth is that when you have happy clients they are usually very willing to recommend you and will talk to your prospective customers on your behalf.

Another thing to look for is a company that provides the cleaning supplies. Believe it or not, not every cleaning service comes stocked and ready to work; some will expect you to have the things they need. If they tell you it’s because clients like to use their own stuff the truth is that it saves them money and makes the job easier for them. When you ask why the bathroom was not cleaned or the floor not mopped – well you didn’t have the supplies so it could not be done. These are poor excuses and bad companies to work with. Instead hire someone who brings their own supplies and has a contingency plan for homes with allergic parties who cannot use certain chemicals and those who live green. These individuals have put time and energy into their company and will make sure to leave you 100% satisfied.

Do some research before letting anyone in to your home and you will be much happier.
