Abuse In Nursing Homes

Posted April 30, 2009 – 3:25 pm in: Law

An elderly woman was physically assaulted in a NY nursing home. As she tells it she was watching television in her room when an orderly told her that she needed to lie down and turn off the lights, she told him she wanted to watch television and at this point he allegedly grabbed her by the arm and threw her in to her bed with great force. She states that when she screamed he slapped her hard across the face with the back of his hand and broke her nose. A passing nurse heard the rucuss and came running in, she immediately contacted officials and the woman was taken to the hospital for medical care. In all of the confusion the orderly was able to flee the scene before the police arrived.

The orderly was later arrested at his home, according to reports the orderly was at home drinking a beer and watching a METS game on TV. Charges regarding the new york nursing home abuse case of physical abuse are being pursued and several other residents of the nursing home have come forward to say that they were hurt by this man in some way. It seems as if the prosecution certainly has a strong case against this man, but he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. According to a Brooklyn Nursing Home Abuse Lawyer that was contacted for a statement the orderly involved has a long record of job hopping due to violent outbursts and pure laziness.
